The story - a source of beauty and wisdom

         The history of fairy tales is long, but hardly someone would try to track down to their depths, to their very origin, because it certainly is very far in time. We know that writing was invented several millenia BC, but people are talking between each other even from earlier times. Inevitably, folk tales have come to light as soon as people started talking freely. We can try to imagine how diverse they were in our lands, inhabited three or more millenia ago by the Thracians, a very gifted people in the arts, but in the same time without their own script, which helps preserve the stories in the most natural form - the colloquial one. Later, these told stories were "living" among rural people, where the lack of writing has preserved them as short wisdom and amusing memories. The authenticity of the rural soul and countless beliefs of the peasant have donated the folk tales with their specific fairy magic, charm and amiability. Folk and author tales, which I will examine, are real works of art, bearers of "white haired" wisdom and original beauty; they are inseparable part of human and national culture.

        "My concept in the picturesque canvas carries the equal color and line - supple, flowing as a tireless life, endless like the water from the spout of the fountain ... The picture is not a collection of fragments, it is a universe of worlds, a sun many suns. I accept the square format - the four cardinal points are equally distant from us."

       “Do you know what the harmony was born from of - from of the contrast. Remember Bosch and Brueghel. I love the contrast. (...) I am a quiet sage, sparingly using the resources... The Bulgarian people, who are not religious, always faced the surreal in a realistic way! Or the principal in it comes from the collision of reality and the surreal, known with the unknown. From this clash an unknown plastic clarity was born, inexhaustible as the world, therefore perfect...

       Within the picture there should be a concrete generality in order so that one can enter it and begin gradually to discover. Therefore the maxims should turn into a sign.

        My notion of art is based on the movement from the supremely clear towards the unknown. As to the task of art - I think it is to concentrate and focus ..."

Light and darkness - good and evil

       One can encounter different concepts for "good and evil", for the necessity of goodness and beauty, and for the evil as part of life. The contemporary individual is striving for goodness and obedience, but simultaneously there are people bearers of will for power, people possessed of three vices: lust, thirst for domination and selfishness.

     "Good and evil" invariably accompany everyone’s life destiny. Life sometimes seems like a "field of goodness", and sometimes as a "field of cruelty and injustice”, and that brings us to radically different views of "bright" and "dark" perspective ahead of us. And we ask ourselves: "Is everything predestined ...?"

Reflections on performance-art

       This is a new multi-layered, provocative and stimulating art form that strongly attracts artists with various background and motivates them to look for new shows, both in galleries and in the theater, even sometimes on the street, inspired by the absolute proximity of unexpected viewers ...

           In the late 1960s and 1970s, the performance art is the most characteristic form of artistic expression, an area of ​​critical and provocative responses, of formal experimentation and new conceptual vision. This new ability to "live" art attracts artists practicing in a wide range of artistic fields, even people, representatives of the inartistic world. In its diversity performance art includes live painting, dances in natural environment, film-shows, narration, music, poetry, theater...

      This new art form emerged as a logical extension, a next step in the constantly evolving world of the arts. It has become possible and was carried out as a result of considerable artistic factors such as the tradition of Futuristic-Dada manifestos and spontaneous performances, the theater of Bauhaus, the road from collage to Environment-experiments in visual literature and sound poetry, the  "happening" generation in the '60s. Important role for differentiation and development of new methods of ideological / conceptual / expression had played the composer John Cage and his multimedia production "Untitled Event" in collaboration with Robert Roshenberg, David Tudor, Charlie Olson, Merce Cunningham.

          The art of performance is strongly influenced by public protests and public events, as well as by the movements that emerged as a result of political, social and cultural crises; thus performance art becomes adequate, ideologically committed critical response by its contemporary art form.

Dear guests, 

       I welcome you with my new exhibition „Drawings“. The show presents some of my earlier works, which I define as important and characteristic for the period of their creation, and my recent works on paper, produced with mixed media. In this exhibition I show for the first time my new artistic signature, very important for me with its graphic impact. Its main visual suggestions are oriented towards the creation, the flight. The concentrated creative force is represented by the ball at the bottom of the letter Б, while the lines in the upper part represent a wing, which frees and carries out to realization the newborn idea and creative impulse.

TO TEACHERS AND STUDENTS

ON THE OCCASION OF THE OPENING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR

           I am writing these lines from my whole heart, without any hidden thoughts and goals, but to tell you about myself in words addressed to you, teachers and students of 29th Secondary School "Kuzman Shapkarev."

          One "faded and heavy" twentieth century abandoned us, leaving in history its fascinating, but also sad, sometimes obscure reality. In everyday life each of us has his own dilemmas whose solution into the unknown future is hanging over our heads. The world is walking very, very long time, and the representatives of every age have tried to build the human society towards peace and perfection. But the most valuable is the work of those spiritual teachers, who created with human little words advices-rosaries on how to achieve human, spiritual peace within ourselves.

          It is clear today that any complex philosophy, as a lesson or example, takes away the author from his readers and students. But who can say that has reached the end of his mental work; who had abandoned the useful word, because his words have reached a satisfactory end. The philosopher, generally every reasoning person, is changing endlessly, improves as though again his view about the world, and expands or ennobles its creed. So till the time he leaves our beloved Earth - this wonderful world.

       The wisdom updates its clock according to the experience of ordinary people. The thought of spiritual teachers is directed to human happiness as the great goal, as unattainable cloister, but from which the light will stream for all people, if this temple is achieved. Its truth can be solely very simple and light-winged that is appealing to the hearts and souls of every small and grown, uneducated and literate.

          The intuition to good and proper is kept in every one. They are achievable with the measure of human power – the will. Each activity will be done better and better as far as possible, if accompanied by strong self-confidence in the proper power, in the ability to do the learned in the best way.
