Author’s Address

In modern life there are so many professions, disciplines and many sorts of activities. Being an artist is more than a profession, an artist means to be a visionary, philosopher, thinker ... The most important for the painter is to not lose the great sense of imaginative thought, accompanied by dreams and thoughts with each stroke of the pencil, brush, nib.

Dreams give a peculiar power of art; dissolve like a fan the vision, or the opposite - concentrate thoughts on a common theme. Creating the picture is mostly freedom loving process that requires flexibility, seeking variety and risk, provoking itself and ultimately may embody life, and movement, and magic.

Painting, drawing in particular, is a fundamental vehicle of aesthetics. It is embedded in many modern human activities such as construction, advertising, in all screen and other visual productions. But the charm of the drawing and oil painting, I think, is precisely in their old existence, that with the same tools and techniques have expressed themselves so many famous artists for centuries. With oil canvases are painted Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael Santi, Diego Velazquez, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Picasso, Dali and many others.

And now today I have the greatest happiness – with the same design brushes, in the same way I knead colors on the rounded mahogany palette, produce the same characteristic sound of the friction of the bristles in the fabric ..., create as a result of this my works. For the drawing, my biggest passion, I can say in undoubted way that from the most ancient civilizations in our land, then the Thracians, all the way till today, still the same - the same fine or intentionally distorted linear images, compositional problems, the same instant outpouring of emotion and idea...The picture has cosmic value... For me, the pure line is the most gorgeous thing.

Contemporary art seems to be in a great challenge, torn between extremes of high inspiration and surrender, solitude and laziness, of modernity, traditionally or primarily, cosmos and nationality. No wonder it is so today, when ever since children we need to be dynamic, thought oriented and brave in our conclusions and deeds. Whatever you say, always the most important for an artist will remain and will be the inspiration, true, self recognized, sincerely.

Often I am infected with a strong passion for drawing from the created before me, from those who respected me with their work, imposed themselves complex creative tasks and have left a trace behind - great artists like Leonardo, Picasso, Dali, Dimitar Kazakov. These springs for me will never dry up because from them stream great mastery of painting and lines, because they make me stay thrill in front of the canvas, feeling their student. I study these artists, bear them in my mind, compare them, follow them and "talk to them".

My opinion is that in Bulgaria the artists of my generation know and appreciate slightly our heritage in fine art and do not compare themselves with it. The exhibitions organized for Bulgarian masters of old, sometimes seem featureless to the people of my generation. The reason for this in my opinion is rooted in the lack of confidence and in dependency from many complexes. You must realize that we have reason to be proud of native art. And what I want to emphasize here is that artists like Dimitar Gyudzhenov, Ivan Milev, The Master, Stoilov, Kazakov, must be regarded as no less valuable than the well known to us famous impressionists, symbolists, modernists, postmodernists and others, because they definitely deserve our esteem, respect and pride that were there.
